Posture and your health: The way we hold ourselves when we sit or stand affects our health, attitudes, and “first impressions”. How we feel and look have a major impact on getting and staying employed, and on how we influence others. Remember Mom’s
frequent reminders to stand up straight and stop slouching? This was good advice. The key is to practice good posture all the time. You can make improvements at any age.
Practice healthy posture. This will make your spine strong and stable. You may feel stiff at first if you’ve forgotten the sensation of sitting and standing up straight. Stretching and core strengthening exercises can help. But, when you stoop or slouch, your muscles and ligaments struggle to keep you balanced, which leads to stress, fatigue, pulled muscles, back pain and other problems.
